Moving to Virginia
Virginia is the cradle of American democracy and the birthplace of the Internet. It is a city that has a rich history more so than a lot of states in the country. With a heritage rooted in Scots-Irish, English, African, Hispanic, German and Native-American cultures, this commonwealth is home to a diverse set of people and places. From Norfolk to Norton, Great Falls to Greensville, and all of the cities in between, the Commonwealth of Virginia is a mix of urban, rural, and suburban landscapes filled with pristine beaches, mile-high mountains, fun water parks, zoos, high-quality wineries, busy shopping malls, notable historic homes and fast-moving highways. Virginia is a day's drive or less from most cities east of the Mississippi River, and with a variety of airport, rail and bus options, the rest of the nation nd the world or only a short ride away.

Capital City: Richmond is the capital city of Virginia.

Population: Currently, 7.2 million people reside in Virginia.

Virginia is also packed with things to do with your whole family. Ocean Breeze Water Park, located in Luray, Virginia, is the only water park in Virginia Beach. This park features a one million-gallon wave pool, 16 waterslides and a children's play area. Virginia Safari Park is a 180-acre drive-thru zoo that features over 500 free-roaming animals from all over the world. Visitors can drive over a three-mile road and are allowed to feed the animals from the windows of your car. Or, check out the Arcady Vineyard Wine Tours in Charlottesville. This winery provides tours for guests of local wineries including pickup from hotel, transportation and a gourmet lunch or appetizer tray.

Economy: Virginia has a highly diversified economy that attracts people from all over the globe to move to this successful state. Virginia moving companies aren't the only businesses that are doing well. Agriculture, once its mainstay, is now behind employment and income generation in terms of monetary growth. Tobacco, Virginia's traditional resource, is still the leading crop, followed by grains, corn, soybeans, peanuts, sweet potatoes, cotton, and apples (especially in the Shenandoah Valley). Wine production is also significant, in the state. The major sources of agricultural income today are from the production and sale of poultry, dairy goods, and cattle, raised especially in the Valley of Virginia. The coastal fisheries are big, bringing in largely oysters and crabs.

State Bird: The cardinal is the state bird.

State Tree: The state tree is the American dogwood.

State Song: The state song is "Carry Me Back to Old Virginia."
