On October 9, 2002, the 11th of the Beltway sniper attacks occurred outside Manassas city limits when 53-year old Dean Harold Meyers was shot pumping gas at a Sunoco station on Sudley Road near Interstate 66 in Prince William County. In October 2005, Manassas became the site of the first wide-scale Broadband over Power Lines implementation in the U.S.

Next, during the summer months, check out Signal Bay Water Park. This small waterpark offers everything you need to stay cool during those blazing days, including set with Lazy River, shallow depth, slides, canons, pirate ship structure and more. At the Manassas Museum, enjoy a permanent exhibit spanning Native American through 20th Century periods, with a special emphasis on the Civil War. Meet spies and scallyways, slaves and soldiers, presidents and generals as you and your family experience special living history portrayals from the past. Do not miss the Museum's seven diverse historic sites, all nearby, or changing exhibit space. Finally, head over to the Ben Lomond Manor House and Old Rose Garden. This Manor House is known for its Federal architecture and its role as a hospital for Union and Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. Also notable is the garden, which features rose varieties developed before the 20th century.
