Home Service to offer water service line insurance to homeowners

March 26, 2010 - Individuals who are planning on moving to a new home may be able to prevent expensive home repair and maintenance projects, as one company has announced the availability of a water service line protection plan.

Home Service, which provides assistance to homeowners, has begun offering insurance for water service lines, which could save some real estate owners thousands of dollars in an emergency situation.

Water service lines bring fresh water into a home from the outdoors, and are connected to the house's water heater, sinks and showers. When these lines are damaged due to temperature, shifting soil or age, they can begin to leak, causing water bills to spike. Other potential problems include reduced pressure or a loss of water service altogether.

As a result, the company has created a plan that gives homeowners thousands in coverage for water service line emergencies for a monthly fee. This service includes access to a 24-hour repair hotline, which links customers to contractors in the event of an emergency.

Similar programs may help new homeowners prevent water waste and save money on their utility bills.
