Meg Ryan will rent out California home

August 7, 2010 - In today's housing market, moving out of one's home has been made more complicated by difficulties in selling it.

No one has been exempt from real estate's troubles - not even celebrities. When actress Meg Ryan couldn't find a buyer for her $14.2 million Bel Air mansion after nine months on the market, she did what many homeowners are forced to do these days: put the property up for rent. According to real estate website Zillow.com, Ryan will rent her home for $40,000 a month.

The home was built in 1931 and features Spanish-style architecture, "open archways, stenciled and painted wood-beamed ceilings, tiles, ironwork, rich wood floors, doors and windows, and French doors that open to loggia, dining pavilion and expansive lawn," said the website. At 6,877 square feet, the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home was bought for about $8.5 million by Ryan back in October 2000.

Anyone who decided to move into the home would likely be able to rent it fully-furnished. It would be a smart idea for the new tenant to purchase renters insurance, since any damage to the property incurred during their stay would likely cost them quite a bit.
