Derek Jeter lists New York apartment

September 10, 2010 - New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is moving out of his cushy residence in Trump World Towers.

Jeter has listed the apartment for $20 million, reported the New York Post. The star shortstop and future Hall of Famer bought the residence directly from celebrity real estate mogul Donald Trump in 2001 for $12.6 million. The report added that Jeter is likely relocating to a new, massive 30,875-square-foot beachfront home in Tampa, Florida, which is currently under construction.

His former apartment has four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, and comprises 5,425 square feet. It also includes 16-foot long floor-to-ceiling windows, said the report.

Sources told the paper that Jeter's real estate move does not necessarily indicate that the shortstop - who is in the final year of a 10-year contract - will not resign with the Yankees this coming offseason. The source said that Jeter is expected to sign a new contract with the Yankees this offseason that will allow him to retire in pinstripes.

One American League official told ESPN's Jayson Stark that there is little chance Jeter's relocation means he is anticipating leaving the Yankees. "He's Derek Jeter. He's a Yankee. And he's going to be a Yankee," said the official.
