Tips for moving appliances

September 24, 2012 - When relocating, many homeowners may opt to transport their new appliances to their new home, however, this can be dangerous for the unprepared. While hiring a moving company that specializes in moving appliances can be helpful, these tips can make it easier for those who opt to get a rental truck from moving services.

Most moving companies that also provide rental trucks include some tools that can make packing appliances and heavy items less challenging. Dollies can be used to get these items into a moving truck, though it's important to test the weight of the object when determining the best way to get it from one place to the next. Furniture sliders can also be used under legs of heavy tables and sofas, which protect them from scratching the floor.

Enlisting the help of strong friends and family members is also crucial. A large amount of manpower can be enough to successfully get big pieces into the next house. Breaking down furniture can also be helpful, as it can make it easier to get out the door and lighter to carry piece-by-piece.
