Hollywood legend's former estate ready for the moving company

June 24, 2011 - The former estate of late screen siren Katharine Hepburn has hit the real estate market for $28 million, according to Curbed.

The home, which is surrounded by water, sits on a secluded lot in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, the source reports. The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom home has been completely updated and has 8,368 square feet of living space. Three of the bedrooms are suites with attached bathrooms and the home also features at least three fireplaces, according to Sotheby's Realty, the real estate agents listing the property.

This ocean-front "Paradise" also boasts several outdoor amentities, such as a pond, boat dock and private beach. Homeowners and guests can also enjoy boating, tennis and golf, according to the source.

Hepburn, who was a Connecticut native, lived in the home until her death in 2003. The daughter of a doctor and a suffragist who stressed the importance of education for all of their children, Hepburn did not begin her acting career until after her graduation from Bryn Mawr College, according to IMDB.

Potential homebuyers should be aware that while the home provides ample luxury, it may also harbor a flood risk. Hepburn and family barely survived a 1938 flood that razed the structure that once stood on the acreage, Curbed reports.
