Moving to CNY will bring access to Verizon FiOS

October 7, 2010 - People who are in the process of moving to the central New York area will be getting another option in terms of a cable provider.

Verizon recently announced yesterday that it will offer cable television through its FiOS service to customers in eight Syracuse area communities.

The company stated it will serve seven communities in Onondaga County and another in Cayuga County. Prior to this, Time Warner Cable was the only option for homeowners and renters in Onondaga County.

FiOS is delivered over a fiber-optic connection direct to a customer's home and has been reported as having faster internet speeds and better picture quality for HD televisions.

The company also stated it plans to expand its FiOS availability to approximately 12,000 more homes in the region by the end of the month.

The relocation process can be a stressful time and can go smoother through good planning. In terms of cable services, it may be a good idea to call ahead of the move to set up an appointment so that everything can be set up as soon as possible.
