Parents may want to consider visiting their child's new school before a move to establish a relationship with teachers and administrators, news channel ABC 15 suggests. They might wish to set up a meeting between their child and their new principal or homeroom teacher so they will feel comfortable turning to these adults if they encounter any problems.

In addition, these parents will have a better handle on trends that are popular among students, such as common clothing and widely attended after-school activities. As a result, they will be able to help their young learners better prepare for their first day of school.

TheParentReport.com suggests that mothers and fathers who connect with counselors or peer helpers can ease the transition into a new school. Experts suggest that high school students may have a particularly difficult time after moving, so these children may need additional attention and encouragement.
