Some celebs' moving plans have come to a halt

April 22, 2011 - Homesellers around the country have been hit hard by the sluggish real estate market, though a report says even celebrities have had poor luck getting their moving plans in gear.

According to Bankrate.com, the effects of property value declines and waning buyer interest have hurt celebrity real estate deals at a rate similar to the rest of the housing market. For instance, famed crooner Barry Manilow has watched his Malibu, California, beachfront home sit idle on the market for 20 months, while James Bond himself - Pierce Brosnan - has had to cut the price on his Malibu property after weak response from local buyers.

Baseball slugger Manny Ramirez made headlines for retiring abruptly weeks ago, but his multi-million dollar condo in Boston is old news by now - it has been put on the market four times since 2002. And pro wrestling legend and reality TV star Hulk Hogan was forced to call a moving company after his publicized divorce left him with no choice but to sell his Florida home - it's been on and off the market since 2006.

Other sellers have seen their frustrating relocation process come to a bitter end in recent weeks. Reports say Bruce Willis was finally able to sell his condo in New York City, but at a significant loss.
