Solera Holdings relocates to Texas

July 9, 2010 - A California software developer is moving its corporate headquarters.

Solera Holdings, which provides software and services to the auto insurance claims industry, is relocating its executive offices from San Diego to somewhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, although it has not yet settled on a location. Members of the company's senior executive team will make the move, and the company does not expect the relocation to affect other U.S.-based operations.

The relocation "gives us a broader recruitment pool and better labor arbitrage, cost efficiencies, and improved mobility and access to our markets," said Solera's founder and CEO Tony Aquila, adding that the switch in time zones will allow the company to share more business hours with customers and colleagues.

Moving to Texas could also benefit those executives' personal income. Texas is one of nine states that doesn't levy a state income tax and recent Internal Revenue Service data shows that many workers - especially the nation's elite - are flocking to the tax-free state.

Of the 20 counties nationwide that have seen the largest number of new residents, four are in Texas. Many of those residents were high-income earners moving from states with high taxes like California, reported Forbes.
