Hockey star Dustin Byfuglien completes home sale

April 19, 2011 - A report says nearly a year after he was forced to hire a moving company and buy a home in Atlanta, hockey star Dustin Byfuglien was finally able to sell his old Chicago property.

Byfuglien was a defenseman and right wing for the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks but last summer he was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers. In September, he put his Chicago home on the market for $1.3 million, but he was unable to attract interest for months. It was finally sold March 28, reported the Chicago Tribune, for $1.08 million, a price that forced the 26-year-old player to sell his home at a loss.

He originally bought it for $1.265 million in 2008, said the report. It was built in 2007 and the person moving in will enjoy three fireplaces, stone architecture in the home's three bathrooms, and a deck on top of its garage. There's also a state-of-the-art entertainment center and a theater room, bonus amenities for whomever's unpacking their moving boxes at the property.

Byfuglien's had one of his most productive offensive seasons since moving to Atlanta, scoring 20 goals and registering 33 assists, both career highs.
