Toni Morrison is moving out of her Princeton digs

June 29, 2011 - Celebrated author Toni Morrison is moving out of her historic Princeton, New Jersey home, according to Curbed.

Built in 1880 by the Reverend William Harris, the home is being dubbed the House of Seven Gables by Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, the realtors handling the listing. Though the home should not be confused with the actual House of Seven Gables in Salem, Massachusetts, it does boast at least as much literary cred as Nathaniel Hawthorne's fictionalized residence.

The Colonial-style home has five bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. While historic elements of the home have been maintained, like beamed ceilings and period appropriate windows, the interior has been updated and now includes a state-of-the-art kitchen and contemporary bathrooms, according to the source.

The home, which is situated one hour from New York City, is perfect for families or professional students who wish to be near institutions of higher learning. Homeowners can move into the home for $1.795 million, according to Curbed.

Morrison, who was born in Lorain, Ohio, in 1931 is both a Nobel Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner for her novel Beloved. She has also been a literature chair at the esteemed Princeton University since 1989, according to the official website of the Nobel Prize.
