Homebuyers can scoop up some old Hollywood charm in California

August 31, 2011 - Silent movie starlet Gloria Swanson was one of the first full-fledged movie stars in America. Now, potential homebuyers and cinephiles can place their bids and direct the moving company to two of the actress' former homes, which are both on the real estate market in California, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Swanson, who had an affair with the patriarch of the Kennedy clan, Joseph Kennedy, began acting in silent films and was nominated for an Oscar for her 1950 performance in "Sunset Boulevard." While she did not win, the movie remains a staple for fans of the silver screen.

Swanson's former Los Angeles home was built in 1920 and has five bedrooms and 3,831 square feet of living space. The home is located in the Silverlake section of the city and affords homeowners sweeping views from almost every area of the home. The space also has a roof deck, which residents can relax on after moving day, according to the Zillow Blog.

The screen legend's former San Clemente home is a bit smaller, with just three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 2,600 square feet. Built in 1926, the home is an official city landmark and includes a library, fireplaces, a wet bar and balconies, the source reports.
