Homebuyers can move into a hobbit hole in Santa Monica

August 17, 2011 - Elijah Wood, the child star who took a turn as J.R.R. Tolkien's ring-bearing hobbit Frodo in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, needs a moving company in Santa Monica, California, where he recently put his home on the real estate market, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The actor will reportedly be resurrecting his role in the upcoming "The Hobbit" movies. The films will be helmed by "Lord of the Rings" mastermind Peter Jackson and the first installment is due out next year, the source reports. Hopefully, Wood's home will not linger on the market that long.

Built in 1924, the Spanish-style home features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. With 2,130 square feet of living space, the spread is on the modest side for an actor of Wood's stature, but it provides lots of charm in the form of period details and location. The property is close to beaches, downtown Santa Monica and local country clubs, according to Realtor.com

There is also a one-bedroom guest home on the property which the new homeowners can use for out of town guests after moving day. Interested individuals may be able to pull up with the moving truck for $1.85 million, according to The Los Angeles Times.
