Former estate of Orson Welles ready for moving services

July 26, 2011 - The former home of silver screen legend - and reported movie-making tyrant - Orson Welles is on the real estate market in Hollywood, according to Curbed.

The gated Southern Colonial-style property was built in 1921 has four bedrooms and four-bathrooms. The home sits on over a quarter acre of land and features lushly manicured gardens complete with fruit trees and a private pool, according to RedFin.

The home's interior boasts hardwood floors and two fireplaces, as well as period-perfect crown molding. There is also a separate guest house and three-car garage to accommodate guests after the moving company has unloaded the moving boxes, the source reports.

Welles, who won Oscars for films like his masterpiece "Citizen Kane," lived in the home for the last 15 years of his life, according to The Los Angeles Times. The new homeowner, screen-writer Daniel Waters, left the spot where Welles passed away sectioned off in masking tape for many years after moving in, according to the source.

Luckily, new homeowners will not have to look out for this grim home highlight, as it has evidently been removed, according to Curbed.
