A piece of rock history hits the California real estate market

May 24, 2011 - Shangri-La, the recording studio that was built for Bob Dylan and The Band, has hit the real estate market in Malibu, California for the first time in more than 30 years, according to AOL Real Estate.

The list of artists that have recorded albums in the famed space, which was also featured in the Martin Scorsese flick The Last Waltz, reads like a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who's who. According to the studio's official website, Van Morrison, Adele, Eric Clapton and Kings of Leon are just some of the musicians that have laid down tracks at Shangri-La.

In addition to playing host to one of the most noteworthy home studios ever constructed, the property also served as the set of the classic television show Mr. Ed, according to the website.

The house, which is across the street from Zuma Beach, features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is also a family room, outdoor barbecue and detached guest house, according to Shen Realty, the real estate agents that are listing the property.

The property is available to prospective homebuyers for $4.1 million, a small price to pay to have the moving truck drop you off where Bob Dylan hung his hat.
