Air Transport

Sunday, February 13, 2011 - Plan a visit to your veterinarian at least one month prior to the flight to ensure your pet is in good health before the flight.

Check with your preferred airline carrier to find out if pet transport is available. Many airlines, such as United Airlines, have a $75 fee ($150 round-trip) for carriers that serve as a carry on.

Booking a flight in advance will save you the hassle of searching for a pet friendly airline closer to the move-in date.

Carefully consider a comfortable carrier for your pet when traveling.
  • Do they have room to move around?
  • Is it conveniently padded with absorbent material?
  • Does it meet the airlines size and weight requirements?
