You’re ready to Paper

At last, it's time to hang the wallpaper. Firstly, make arrangements to minimize household traffic while you work. Check to make sure your tools and work area are all clean. Next, reverse-roll every roll of wall coverings. This enables you to inspect for imperfections and lessen the papers tendency to curl up or roll up during the soaking or pasting process.

If you find flaws you can either return the paper or cut out the flaws if you have enough paper.

Cutting strips of wallpaper
First, rough cut the wallpaper and then trim the wallpaper in place of an exact fit. First draw the paper, design side up on to your table. Cut s strip to size with a scissor. Pull the top of the strip up to the same end of the table for cutting and leave a two to three inch allowance at the top and bottom of each strip.

Note the following points
  • For papers with no vertical repeat pattern, just measure the height of the wall and add about five inches for top and bottom allowances. Clip the upper right corner of every top as you cut it so that you know which way is up when you hang it.

  • For papers with no vertical repeat pattern, just measure the height of the wall and ass about five inches for to and bottom allowances. Clip the upper right corner of every top as you cut it so that you know which way is up and when you hang it.

  • For papers with a vertical pattern repeat place the paper on the floor at the base of the wall and carefully pull up enough paper to reach the ceiling. Move the paper up and down to adjust the position for the most dominant pattern. Mark the paper at the intersection of the ceiling. Take it down for cutting. Cut the top and bottom three to five inches longer than the wall height.

  • For a straight across pattern – This is where the pattern placement is the same distance from the ceiling for every strip. Cut all full-length strips so they’re identical to the first, that is, the same length and always starting at the same point on the pattern.

  • For paper with a half-drop pattern, every other strip, i.e. strips one, three five and so on are cut at one point on the pattern. To determine where to cut the alternating strips, roll out the paper side by side with the first strip and align the patterns correctly, making sure the top of the uncut paper extends above the top of the odd strip. Next mark and cut all future even numbered strips form this point above the dominant pattern.
