Un-level Ceilings and walls

Here is some advice on working around un-level ceilings and out of plumb walls. It is advisable not to use a straight across pattern that would emphasize an out of level ceiling. Instead, consider a vertical stripe or drop match pattern.

The larger the drop, the less evident any horizontal patter elements are. If you have out of plumb walls, avoid vertical patterns because a vertical pattern may start on one wall and cross over to the other at inside and outside corners. You may be able to further minimize such problems at least on the most noticeable wall, by adjusting the position of the paper to avoid having pattern elements close to the edges of ceilings or outside corners. The more space you have between design elements the easier it is to adjust the position so that you do not lose bits of the pattern.
