Smoothing Painted Walls

Sunday, February 13, 2011 - To assure a good wallpaper bond and so that it can be removed in the future, coat all painted walls with an acrylic wallpaper primer/sealer. Use sandpaper to machine sand oil painted and glossy surfaces before sealing them.

If latex paint comes off when you rub it withy a wet cloth it is of poor quality and you should use a pigmented variety. You must either machine sand painted walls until they are smooth or have them professionally skim-coated with joint compound and then prime them.
