Volunteer organization completes home repair and maintenance projects

April 27, 2010 - As part of its mission to help low-income and disabled homeowners, RPJ Housing recently announced the completion of a series of home repair and maintenance projects.

Through its annual Rebuilding Together event, the organization enlisted approximately 1,200 volunteers who provided an estimated $300,000 in donated labor. The workers repaired a total of 40 homes of individuals who were elderly or struggling financially and those with special needs or disabilities.

The projects focused on life safety improvements, energy efficiency and repairs that prevented the risk of a large economic burden in the future.

Eric Bonetti, the organization's acting director of the organization, said that his group is "honored and humbled to be able to help strengthen our community and to be of service to our neighbors."

Since its inception 42 years ago, RPJ Housing has improved nearly 3,000 homes with the help of more than 65,000 volunteers. The organization also offers affordable housing services, including rental housing, transitional housing and affordable home ownership programs, and has built, renovated and managed more than 2,900 units to date.
