Hollywood celeb Will Smith renting Philadelphia home

March 1, 2012 - Real estate site Curbed reports that actor Will Smith recently hired a moving company when he moved into a home in Philadelphia. The star is only renting the home which is reportedly listed for sale for $7.4 million while filming M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming movie, After Earth. It has not been reported how much Smith is paying for the home, but neighbors say the whole family has been spotted coming in and out of the estate.

Despite starting his career on television, followed by a brief interest in the music industry, Smith has become one of the highest-paid film actors starring in a number of movies including The Pursuit of Happyness, which earned him two Oscar nominations, and Independence Day. The rest of the family has also earned their own fame as his daughter recently released an album and his son will be starring in Shyamalan's film too.

The property's public listing states the home sits on 10.5 acres of land and was built back in 2000. The traditional-style estate offers 10,719 square feet of living space including six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. Other fresh features of the home include a roof deck for sun-bathing, patio, a swimming pool and energy-efficient appliances throughout.

While neighbors are enjoying the celebrity-status the Smith family has brought to the community, Curbed says that the relocation is likely temporary. However, the home's upgrades should have someone moving boxes into the home shortly after filming wraps up.
