Harry Potter's fictional birthplace listed for sale

August 31, 2012 - New sites are buzzing that the London cottage used as Harry Potter's birthplace in the popular film series has been listed for sale. The Medieval-style home has an asking price of nearly $1.5 million.

The 14th century estate is better known as de Vere House in Lavenham, Suffolk, and has three large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a number of other amenities never shown in the film. A reception hall, attic bedroom and a separate guest wing make the home perfect for entertaining guests other than He Who Must Not Be Named.

This is the first time the cottage has been available for purchase in a very long time, as it has mostly been family-owned and passed down for generations. Since the home is so old, the current homeowners have made many restorations, with the addition of carvings, paintings and gardens.

While the couple has not ever said if they received compensation for their home's use, they may be moving boxes out to in response to being the second most-photographed home in the United Kingdom, as reported by new sources.
