Retail sales


Retail Sales is a very demanding job in which you are dealing with a very demanding public all the time. You are representing the store in which you work and have to be upbeat and positive even when you might not feel that way. Retail sales personnel usually work off a base salary and an agreed up commission from each sale they make. Retail Sales people need to be attentive listeners, helpful, people oriented and have the ability to influence people. Sales people also need to be experts in whatever they are selling. Although no formal third level education is needed a high school diploma is a must and a few years in college is highly desirable to many employers.
