Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Pasadena, California

Pasadena, California, located in Los Angeles County, is a real magnet when it comes shopping, dining out and entertainment. Those relocating to Pasadena will discover trendy boutiques to exclusive up-market stores and gourmet restaurants offering many ethnic variations on their menus. Here you will truely savor its unique American, Mexican and Spanish delicacies.

Economy:
Thanks to its well-educated workforce, Pasadena has few equals when it comes to its employment opportunities. Some 20 percent work in manufacturing and other industrial operations with a further 15 percent engaged in services industries. The two largest employers are the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, also operated by Caltech but under contract to NASA. The presence of these two mega-structures has resulted in several more technology-related businesses springing up in Pasadena. Other notable companies operating out of the city and environs include Avery Dennison, Parsons Corporation, Tetra Tech, Western Asset Management, OneWest Bank as well as the J. G. Boswell Company. The health care sector is also well represented and adds to economic stability through diversity in sunny Pasadena.

History:
The Hahamogna Tribe of native Indian Americans originally occupied the area that was to become Pasadena with the coming of the Spaniards in 1771. Pasadena was formally founded in 1874 and incorporated in 1886. It quickly rose to fame and popularity due to its excellent climate and as one of the finest places to live for people suffering respiratory problems too. The arrival of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway led to a boom in real estate in Pasadena in the 1880s that would last through to the Great Depression. The city became a preferred destination for rich Easterners wanting to escape harsh winters in their hometowns and this led to rapid development in the hospitality trade with the opening of grand hotels and many other tourist attractions. Pasadena benefited greatly from World War II activities as it was selected to become a major staging area for the Pacific War. The arrival of high tech manufacturing and scientific companies saw Pasadena prosper, and this development trend has continued  right up to present times.

Tourism:
Thinking of moving to Pasadena? Even if you are just planning to visit you will find so much to do and see. Probably best known for its annual hosting of the Tournament of Roses, Pasadena boasts 103 fun attractions such as the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens centrally located in the city. Take in Bungalow Heaven, a truly magical neighborhood hosting some 800 small craftsman homes built over a 30 year period in the early 20th century and many of them still occupied. And here is a really whacky suggestion, visit the Pasadena Motorcycle Club which was formed in 1907 making it the third oldest such club in America. A visit to Pasadena would certainly be incomplete without a visit to the famous Rose Bowl stadium as well.
