Water-Based or Oil-Based


Sunday, February 13, 2011 - Generally for wood, you face a choice between two types or finishes, paint, stains and varnishes and other clear coatings such as oil based clear alkyds and water based latex finishes.

Although latex is the easier to work with because clean up is easy, the alkyds are often chosen by professionals for their durability although clean up can only be accomplished using mineral spirit or other paint thinners.
