Sizing and Finishing the Countertop

Use a circular saw to cut off any extra length of a post-formed countertop
  1. Place the countertop upside down on a pair of sawhorses.

  2. Measure the length of countertop you need and mark a cutting line on the substrate.

  3. Cut and clamp scraps of 1X4 to the backsplash first and then cut from the rear of the countertop toward the front.

If the countertop has an exposed end that is not against a wall or in a corner a laminate end cap needs to be applied. End caps are precut to fit the counter profile but oversized at the back edge to allow for a scribed fit so you need to do some trimming with a hand file. Most end caps come coated with a heat-activated adhesive that allows easy installation.
