Oceanside, California

What would you say to living in a city that was located on the Pacific Ocean? If this sounds like heaven on earth, it can be a reality for you in Oceanside, California. This coastal city with fabulous weather is only 35 miles from San Diego and 83 miles from Los Angeles. Economy:
Some of the companies that employ a large number of Oceanside residents are Tri-City Medical (the Tri-City area encompasses the cities of Oceanside, Vista and Carlsbad), the Oceanside school system and the city’s government. The largest grossing industries in Oceanside are tourism and the military sector. The country’s busiest military base, the Marine’s Camp Pendleton, is located there. History:
Oceanside’s original land grant was 161 acres given to the city’s founder, Andrew Jackson Myers in 1883. The formal incorporation of Oceanside occurred on July 3rd, though the city was originally settled by Native American even before 1769 which was when Spaniards from Europe arrived. Myers named the city because California residents loved to go to coast or “the ocean side” as the area was often referred. In the 1890s the city’s first large residential area was built in the downtown area. During World War II in 1942 Camp Pendleton came to be.
