Moving to Arizona
You're moving to Arizona! After you have packed and located Arizona moving companies, it's time to learn more about this lively (and hot) state that you will soon call home.

Known as the Grand Canyon State, Arizona is experiencing one of the nation's largest population increases over the last two decades. Despite its rapid population growth, the state still has the low population density of approximately 45.2 persons per sq mile. The state's desert geography is among the most beautiful in the U.S. Home to expanding real estate development, abundant business opportunities, recreation and a warm, dry climate, Arizona remains an excellent place to live.

Capital City: The capital of Arizona is Phoenix.

Population: The state ranked 19th in population in the U.S. with an estimated total population of approximately 5.5 million.

Local Activities: With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Arizona is a hot-spot for outdoor fun. Popular Arizona activities include golfing, tennis, mountain biking, off-roading and horseback riding. Arizona is not called the Grand Canyon State for nothing. The World Heritage Site is one of the most spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world. Arizona is also home to a professional football and baseball teams, and two prominent college spot programs in Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, as well as dozens of museums spread throughout the state.

Economy: Early in its history, Arizona's economy relied on the "five C's": copper, cotton, cattle, citrus, and climate (tourism). At one point Arizona was the largest producer of cotton in the country. To this day, copper is extensively mined from many expansive open-pit and underground mines, accounting for two-thirds of the nation's output. The state government is Arizona's largest employer, while Wal-Mart is the state's largest private employer.

State Bird: Adopted in 1973, Arizona's state bird, the cactus wren, is seven to eight inches long and likes to build nests in the protection of thorny desert plants.

State Tree: The state tree is the yellow palo verde Fabaceae.

State Flower: The saguaro cactus blossom is the state tree that typically blooms in May and June. It is one of the most unique state flowers, and is characterized by having a waxy feel and attractive aroma.

State Song: The state song called “Arizona” was written by Margaret Rowe Clifford.
