Moving to Alabama

Located in the southeastern region of the U.S., Alabama is commonly referred to as the "Yellowhammer state" or "the Heart of the Dixie." The state was discovered by Spanish explorers in 1519, which was later under control by the British in 1763. The city was later a confederate capital, which was founded in Montgomery and later played a major rule in history for the location of numerous civil-rights protests, boycotts and marches in the 1950s and 60s. Today, those relocating to Alabama will discover an industrial area with numerous national parks, a rural landscape and various points of interest such as the Rosa Park Museum and Library, Mound State Monument and the gorgeous Gulf Coast. Capital City: Montgomery is the state capital of Alabama, which is bordered by Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi.

Population: The state has a population in excess of 4.7 million based on statistics from the United States Department of Agriculture.

To experience some of the south's history you can visit the Civil Right Memorial in Montgomery or the Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile.
