What's on the backside of the paper?

What is on the backside of the paper is also very important. Some papers come pre-pasted and others do not. The type of backing also determines how you will remove it in the future.

There are two main differences on the backside of wallpapers.
  • Pre-pasted or Un-pasted- the most obvious difference is the lack of or presence of paste. The vast majority of wall coverings are pre-pasted. They activate the adhesive by applying water on the paper.

  • Dry strippable or Peel able- this feature is more of a concern when the paper is being removed. Dry strippable paper peels off in its entirety. Peelable paper peels off but can leave the paper backing behind. You can paper over the backing however painting is almost impossible.
