Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Santa Barbara has an area of 43.09 square miles, this number includes both land and water territories. Santa Barbara movers are kept busy all year round because of the multitude of people that are relocating to Santa Barbara. The city is also known as the American Riviera because of the beautiful beaches along its coastline and the scenic mountains in the background.

Economy:
Santa Barbara, California maintains a diverse business sector. It thrives from its popularity as a destination city so tourism is one of its bigger industries. Among the highest earning industries of the city are Services, retail trade, manufacturing and transportation. The service sector of Santa Barbara remains to be its strongest industry.

Like most cities in America, Santa Barbara was hit badly by the recession. It is on its way up however and the 2010 audit shows a 9.4 million increase in the city’s assets. With the general upward movement of the economy more and more families and businesses are expected to be moving to Santa Barbara soon.

History:
The original residents of the area were American Indians known as Chumash. They settled along the coastline years before the Spanish settlers arrived. When the missionaries started their work, the natives were placed under Spanish rule during the colonization until 1822. For a time the area was a part of Mexico but in 1846, Santa Barbara was taken by the United States.

After the transfer of Santa Barbara to the United States, the lifestyle of the locals didn’t change too much. Ranching and agriculture were still the prominent industries. However after the Civil war, Victorian houses started to be built and the city began to utilize its ideal port location. The local shipping industry started to grow and people from different areas moved to Santa Barbara because of the port.

Tourism:

There are also a number of beaches in the area where families and visitors can relax and spend the day enjoying the beautiful horizon and the calming waves. Other family bonding activities available are bus tours, horseback riding, park strolls, camping and hiking.

The city also has a selection of accommodations that offer breath-taking views of the coast. Best Western Encina Lodge & Suites, Harbor View Inn, Canary Hotel and Brisas del Mar, Inn at the Beach are only a couple of choices that tourists might want to look at.
