Primers

Sunday, February 13, 2011 - The key to good wallpaper adhesion is the proper condition of wall surfaces. Starting with a clean painted wall will likely yield good results if you apply an acrylic wallpaper primer/sealer to the wall. A primer/sealer not only promotes adhesion but also makes it easier to strip.

If you are papering over drywall, apply a primer/ sealer is a must. If your wall has any stains such as nicotine, crayon, lipstick or ink, be sure to seal the stains or they will bleed through the primer and paper. For this you will need an acrylic pigmented stain killing primer/sealer. Follow up with a primer/sealer made for wall coverings.
