Tools of the Trade
These are many application tools for paint and stain including brushes, pads and rollers.

The applicator you need depends on what you are painting and the type of finish you are using. For example, a paint pad is especially useful for painting siding as while the top edge of the pad paints the bottom of the siding, the face of the pad paints the face of the siding. A stain brush holds watery stain better than a paintbrush. You can also use a roller that is sized for the siding, however you need to go back and to the underside with a brush.

It is very useful to carry a scraper, wire brush, wood putty and caulk as you paint so you can patch up any defects you missed during the initial preparation.
