Hardwood Flooring
Wherever you want to add richness and style think about adding a wooden floor. It’s elegant and functional and can be used in almost any room including bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and family rooms. Hardwood floors can look good for years with a little care and attention. It’s a good practice to give the floor and extra boost every once in a while. We’re not talking about stripping and refinishing the floor but simply cleaning the floor the right way. It will make the floor look like new.

Try this technique…
  • Rub a small area with “0000” grade steel wool dipped in denatured alcohol.

  • Wipe dry to remove any wax.

  • Damp mop the area and apply a coat of paste wax.

  • This can save some time however the finished result makes it well worth it.

If you tried refurbishing and you’re floor still looks less than great you probably, you probably need to refinish the floor. This involves removing all the old finishes including wax and stain. You will need a sander to complete this job. Rent one with a dust bad and vacuum to help minimize the amount or sanding dust behind. A walk behind sander has a large rotating drum that evenly removes the finish using the correct grad of sandpaper. To do a good job you will need to remove the base molding as this will give you maximum access when sanding and refinishing where the floor meets the wall.
