Being a relatively small city of 32,959 individuals, Bothell is a well-knit community where everyone has a place.

The population of the city was recorded in mid 2009 as just under 33,000 residents, an increase since 2000 of 9.3 percent. The area we now know as Bothell was originally inhabited by the Sammamish Native American tribe.

In 1885 a settler from Pennsylvania, David Bothell, purchased 80 acres of land in the area and a postal station was built. The settlement was named Bothell in 1888 in his honor. Also in 1888 a railroad was constructed to the town which facilitated the transportation of coal to the settlement and, in 1909, Bothell was officially incorporated as a city.
