Economy:
The city has been a hub for farming, industry and trade business for more than 150 years. Most of the growth in the city is due to its metropolitan link with the nearby Seattle. Most of the tourists are from the nearby Seattle. The main attractions in Auburn are its outdoor activities. Many people are willing to spend openly every weekend to relax and enjoy here after their tough work in Seattle. Due to cheap land, there are a number of industrial giants in the area. History:
The area of Auburn was rich in vegetation and dense forests for hundreds of years. The area had unpredictable floods and was a fishing hub for Native Indians. The first town in the area was Slaughter, named in honour of William Slaughter who was killed in 1855 during a clash with Indians. Sometime later, a group of pioneers from Auburn, New York came and settled here in an attempt to start business. These people were successful and soon became the main authority in the town. The name was changed by them to Auburn, after their hometown in New York. The Native Indian tribes that inhabited this area were the Stkamish, Skopamish and Smalhkamish. Three sites in Auburn are included in the National Register of Historic Places.
