Cleveland, Tennessee

Cleveland, Tennessee is the principal city of Bradley County and forms a part of the Tennessee Metropolitan Statistical Area. Those moving to Cleveland will discover a hilly region to the west of the Appalachian Mountains and to the east of Chickamauga Lake. The Hiwassee River flows to the northwest of the city.

Economy:
There are several employment opportunities in Cleveland. The Bradley Memorial Hospital, Cleveland Community Hospital, Cumberland Hall Psychiatric Hospital, Women's East Pavilion and Woods Memorial Hospital take care of the city’s health needs, while Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and Hardwick Field Airport provide air service connections. Life Care Centers of America has its corporate headquarters in the city.

Industrial production is the backbone of Cleveland’s economy, which produces pharmaceuticals, cleaning products and chemicals, car spare parts, food products and cooking equipment, batteries and photographic components and furniture and textiles. With all of these opportunities, it's no wonder why so many Cleveland moving companies are so busy.

History:
The original inhabitants of the area were the Cherokee Native Americans.
The first village in the area around what we now know as Cleveland was settled in 1837 and was made the County Seat of the year old Bradley County.

The last of the Cherokees were removed from the area towards the end of the 1830s and the City of Cleveland was officially incorporated in 1842.

Tourism:
The city of Cleveland hosts local festivals on an annual basis. The best are the Foothills County Fair in May; the Cherokee Days of Recognition held each August; and the Apple Festival in October.

Lovers of the great outdoors will revel in the Hiwassee River State Park and the Cherokee National Forest. Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park is a popular recreation area for the local residents. The nearby Appalachian Mountains and Chickamauga Lake offer hiking and walking trails and camping and picnic areas.

Colleges/Universities:

Interesting Facts:
