Moving to Rhode Island
Rhode Island is a quaint state of cool neighborhoods, top schools, 400 miles of coastlines and historic landmarks that make up about 20 percent of the state. In the colonial age, Rhode Island was home to groups of Native Americans and the new colonies. However, after King Phillips War in 1675, the Narragansett Indian Village was destroyed. The Nation American group retaliated; allowing people to leave before they came to burn down cities. After these events King Philip was killed and the colonies eventually came together under the new Dominion of New England. Rhode Island was one of the first colonies to renounce the British Crown. During its colonial years, there was heavy involvement with the slave labor until the abolition period. During the Civil War, Rhode Island joined the Union Army and abolished slavery within the state in 1866.
