History:
A large part of the original settlers of Warren are people who initially intended to settle in Detroit. Because Detroit became so crowded many were forced to live in its outskirts. Another part of the original community were settlers from New England who built farms in the Area.

It was originally a very small community which had its own railroad, churches and schools.
Homes were made from wood because of the abundance of forests in the area. There were also a number of lumber mills in the small settlement and log production was commonplace. The settlement became a village in 1893 and it was on October 27, 1956 when the charter making Warren a City was signed.
