History:
Incorporated in 1821, Lawrenceville, Georgia is the second oldest city in the Atlanta area. Early on, most residents farmed cotton, or at least benefited from the booming industry. One of the first cotton factories, Lawrenceville Manufacturing Company, made goods for the Confederates. When it burned during the Civil War, another was quickly built to replace it.
