Duluth, Georgia is located in Gwinnet County and is 12 miles east of the larger city of Roswell. Duluth is one of the most affluent and peaceful residential towns in the suburbs of Atlanta. History:
The area was originally inhabited by the Cherokee Indians. During the war in 1812, an Indian trail was made through the city which connected Fort Peachtree to Fort Daniel. The trail is now known as the Old Peachtree Road. The main wave of settlers came to the area in 1818 after the Gwinnet County was founded. Duluth was established by Evan Howell originally. However, in 1871 the city was renamed to Duluth, after a similar city in Minnesota. The railroad arrived to the city the same year and brought more settlers. The railroad also encouraged business and industry. The nearby city of Atlanta was a main player in the growth of Duluth. Overtime, the rich people in Atlanta preferred Duluth as a residential place. Duluth established its reputation as a technology products city. A number of global leaders in equipment have headquarters in Duluth.

Tourism:
Duluth has a lot to offer for recreation. The city is home to the Children’s Art Museum, the Hudgen’s Centre for Arts and the Southern Railway Museum. Many people also enjoy visiting the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area and the Pleasant Hill Park. Duluth also has interesting shopping areas like the Duluth Shopping Plaza and the Proctor Square Shopping Centre. The Yellow River Game Ranch is also worth visiting. The city hosts numerous festivals and events every year which attracts huge crowds from Atlanta and other surrounding cities. Visitors can stay at the La Quinta Inn, the Hyatt Place or Hilton Gardens.
