City Moving

Spring Hill, Florida

Just north of the beautiful Tampa Bay area, in Hernando County, lays the equally stunning city of Spring Hill, Florida. This area is a beautiful compilation of close to 53 miles of natural landscapes and almost five miles of refreshing waters. Those moving to Spring Hill will discover one of West Coast Florida’s premier destinations for finding affordable, quality new housing. Residents enjoy living in the relaxed atmosphere, away from the hordes of tourists that visit Florida each year.

History:
Spring Hill was founded in 1968 as a planned community, which was developed by the Deltona Corporation and the Mackle Brothers who built the community. The plans for the community are actually identical to the community of Deltona, Florida. The Mackle Brothers sold many of the properties and land in the area through intense advertising. It appeared on maps of Florida as early as 1856.It has since become a sprawling semi-city in its own right, though it is an unincorporated area. In the past two decades, Spring Hill has attracted a large number of business chains, reflecting the recent boom in population and the tastes of the recent influx of residents seeking lower property values, quiet suburban life, and a low crime rate. With its proximity to Tampa, about 35 miles\south and the completion of the Suncoast Parkway in 2001, has made Spring Hill easily accessible to the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.

Economy:
The Tampa Bay area serves as the gateway to the Florida High Tech Corridor, which spans 23 counties. Created as a partnership between the University of South Florida, University of Central Florida and now including the University of Florida, the Florida High Tech Corridor promotes the growth of the high tech industry across Central Florida. Academic research is a key component of high-tech growth and a powerful economic engine. The presence of cutting-edge research in the region is vital to technology transfer, which enables innovative ideas discovered in academia to achieve commercialization in the marketplace. The Tampa Bay area has several powerhouse research centers that are engaged in both pure scientific research and aggressively pursuing technology transfer to enrich people’s lives. With more than 50 hospitals, dozens of clinics and ambulatory care centers, the Tampa Bay area has an abundance of top-rated health care facilities for children and adults. The region also has a wealth of well-trained medical professionals – nearly 53,000 nurses and more than 9,200 physicians – provide care to the Tampa Bay area residents and visitors every year. The Tampa Bay area ranks in the top 20 nationwide for medical device manufacturing clusters. The industry employs more than 10,000 people with an average wage in excess of $49,000 and produces over $2 billion worth of goods and services for an economic impact of more than 51,000 jobs and $5 billion. The area’s history of manufacturing for the defense industry has created a workforce skilled in high-precision fabrication of electronic parts and assemblies and experience in dealing with government relations, easing the transition to the highly regulated medical manufacturing industry.

Tourism:
This sunny city is home to numerous parks, making it a nature lover’s dream vacation destination. The Weeki Wachee Springs is one of the attractions that draw visitors to stay in Spring Hill, Florida. View underwater performances by women dressed as mermaids in the aquarium-like setting of the Weeki Wachee River, a local attraction since 1947. Or, soak up the serenity by gliding down the crystal-clear waters of the Weeki Wachee River on an endangered manatee tour, or scuba dive a 140-foot underwater cave at Hospital Hole. The city is home to many other attractions, check out the County Line Amusement Park for a day of family fun or visit the Crews Lake Wilderness Park. Outdoor excursions through the Withlacoochee State Forest and Chinsegut Nature Center show off Hernando’s eco-friendly attitude and abundance of natural attractions.
