By the 1950s, it was famous for the Van Nuys Boulevard, where teenagers cruised their souped-up hotrods up and down the “strip” every weekend evening. Many famous—and infamous—people have called Van Nuys their home, including actresses Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, and gangsters Mickey Cohen and Bugsy Siegel.

Tourism:

The Van Nuys airport continues to make news headlines as a favorite departure-point for globe-hopping Hollywood stars, so visitors might even spot a celebrated actress or an infamous comedian.

Sportsmen and –women will enjoy a visit to the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area in Van Nuys.
