Selecting a color scheme can be a difficult test of your decorating ability. Choose a decorating style that comes with a particular color, color palette or strongly suggested color direction. Examples include..
  • Coastal Schemes
    Blue and white are the primary coastal schemes. Think of the Greek Islands with the white homes and the blue ocean as the backdrop. By adding various accents such as textured tiles and rustic furniture, the space can be warmed up.

  • French country
    The colors are generally strong in French country schemes such as mustard, green grass and rusty red. The scheme is typically made up of earthy textures and calico patterns.

  • City Chic
    The city chic scheme is typically a polished look with colors like black, white and beige. This is a sophisticated scheme with a touch of glamour.

  • Country cottage
    The color schemes used in country cottage schemes include a wide range of pastel colors both warm and cool. Floral patterns, ruffles and flourishes all complete this look.

  • English Manor
    This is a traditional style based on English country homes. The colors used in this scheme are brilliant reds, yellows blues, green purples an oranges. Floral bouquets fabrics and chintz are associated with this style.

  • Shabby Chic
    The primary colors used with this style are white, generally softened to ivory and lines white. The paint job does not need to be perfect as this style is associated with dents and chips like antiques or aged pieces.
