Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Waco, Texas

If you like sunny days and warm weather, moving to Waco is an excellent choice. This city of more than 130,000 people  is the county set of McLennan County. Being in the center of the Texas manufacturing and technology corridor, about 90 miles south of Dallas and 100 miles north of Austin, Waco is an ideal moving destination for those seeking employment and those looking to start their own business. Take a look at some moving services as well as what you can do in this exciting area.

Economy:
Over the years, Waco’s entrepreneurial spirit energized its economy following downturns and attracted businesses from a broad range of industries. No major industry accounts for more than a fifth of the Waco metropolitan area’s total employment. With 18 percent of the area’s 109,000 jobs, the largest sector is education and health services. Baylor, Waco’s largest private employer, combines with two other higher-education institutions to provide stability and growth to the local economy.

Manufacturing is among Waco’s mainstays, accounting for about 14 percent of area jobs. Electronics and food manufacturers are the dominant employers and include Cargill Foods, Masterfoods USA, Pilgrim’s Pride, Sanderson Farms and L-3 Communications. Although manufacturing employment has slid since 2005, average weekly factory wages have continued to rise.

History:
Waco was settled in 1849 when surveyor George B. Erath laid out its first streets. The town was named after the area's first inhabitants, the Huaco Indians. In 1856, Waco became incorporated as a city, and by the 1870s became a hub of commerce for the state of Texas with the arrival of several railroad lines. In 1886, Baylor University relocated to the city from Independence, Texas, merging with Waco University. By the turn of the century, Waco had established itself as one of the world's leading producers of cotton.

Tourism:
One of the largest municipal parks in the state is Waco's Cameron Park, a favorite for visitors who enjoy outdoor recreation such as picnicking, hiking, canoeing and more. Nearby is the Cameron Park Zoo, a natural-habitat zoo which houses dozens of species from around the globe. Located in downtown Waco is RiverSquare Center, a collection of restored warehouses which date back to 1900 and now feature a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Other popular attractions in Waco include the Dr Pepper Museum which contains a replica of the drug store where Dr Pepper was invented, the Art Center Waco which offers hands-on activities for the kids of all ages, and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame with interactive displays and exhibits on sports of all types.
