AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

History:
Queens was established as part of the original 12 colonies of New York in 1683. The area was named after Catherine of Braganza (1638-1705), a Portuguese princess who married the king of England – which at the time was Charles II. Jamaica was settled in the heart of Queens under British rule as the Town of Jamaica. Colonial Jamaica had 56 Minutemen that once actively fought in the Battle of Long Island, which put New York City back into the hands of the British. Jamaica grew into a trading post for farmers, similarly to how it was an ancient location for trades of skins and fur for white-shelled beads called “wampums” between groups of Native Americans. In late 1790s, post offices and school systems came into development, which have led to further increases of the population of Jamaica, Queens.
