Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Honolulu, Hawaii

As the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu is located on the southeast coast of the island of Oahu. The fresh, floral air energizes locals, and the warm, tranquil waters have a fine way of refresh sing the moods and outlooks of tourists. There is truly no place on earth like Honolulu, Hawaii. Whether you are thinking about moving to Honolulu or enjoying some time away from the office, Hawaii’s six unique islands offer diverse experiences for all kinds of people with different needs. If you are looking to explore one of Hawaii’s bigger metropolises we would have to recommend the capital city of Honolulu. Experience the warmth of the Honolulu people, which wonderfully complements the Island's serene temperatures and awe-inspiring beaches, and then you’ll believe in the magic of this tropical paradise.. Here’s a little taste of the Honolulu paradise: one day you could be taking a helicopter ride over an active volcano, landing on its mouth and hiking down to safety, another day you decide to just be laying on one of Hawaii’s most well-known coastlines drinking Pina Coladas until bliss hits, or you could take dance or language lessons to learn how to get around town speaking like a pro. It's no wonder why people are moving to Honolulu.

Economy:
Honolulu’s economy in the mid-19th century was based off the port established for whalers and trade in the area connecting the U.S. to the nations bordering the Pacific Ocean. The city sold goods such as sandalwood, whale oil and fur. While markets for whale oil have noticeably decreased, sugar and pineapple markets have dramatically increased in the recent market. Today, tourism is the most important industry in Hawaii, especially in Honolulu, which is the leading economic center of the state contributing more than $10 billion annually to the local economy. The city’s port serves local industries such as pineapple canneries, sugar refineries and clothing factories. Other important sectors to Honolulu's economic success include military defense, tourism, research and development and manufacturing. There are many job opportunities and amenities in Honolulu; no wonder Honolulu moving companies are so busy.

History:
Turbulence and conflict dominated the early history of Honolulu. One of the last areas on the globe to be explored, Honolulu was subject to strong pressures from many forces, including American missionaries and opportunistic whalers. These whalers were among the city’s original population and were responsible for bringing in trade, commerce and prosperity that led to development in the sugar and pineapple industries. The Japanese bombed the Honolulu area and the unprepared U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor in 1941, forcing the United States to enter World War II. Hawaiian gained statehood in 1959 and the viability of commercial air travel to the island brought tourism to Honolulu. This tourism boom that followed statehood brought rapid economic growth to Honolulu and Hawaii.

Tourism:
Honolulu is one of the premier travel destinations for vacationers. Known for its amazing resort accommodations, Honolulu is just what most vacationer’s need with unlimited meals, drinks, sun and surf. On vacation, people can also enjoy activities such as scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, swimming with dolphins and so much more. Waikiki Beach has one of the best reputations of any beach in the world. Once you’re done at the beach though, you must explore the Waikiki Aquarium or the many areas of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. You can find basketball and football games at the University of Hawaii warriors, college football's Aloha Bowl in December and the NFL's Pro Bowl in February. For real surfing, Honolulu has beginner-sized waves at Waikiki and less than an hour away on Oahu's North Shore, the 30-foot waves at Haleiwa Beach and Pipeline attract surfers from all over the world. In December, professional surfing's Triple Crown of Surfing contest in held on the North Shore. Oahu has everything, from sailing to snorkeling to skiing. Inland, Oahu's awesome mountains and rainforests offer hiking and fantastic scenery. Finally, be sure to check out Diamond Head, Honolulu's most recognizable natural landmark.
