Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

San Diego, California

San Diego is the eighth largest city in the U.S. whose urban city holds over 2,880,000 people. The San Diego and Los Angeles Metropolitan area holds about 22 million people. The local economy is very healthy here. This is sure to the fact that the Eleventh Naval District Headquarters is here for the U.S. Navy Pacific fleet. The military and defense presence brings over $13 billion each year to the local economy. Tourism also contributes to the city’s economy through the presence of the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. It’s so wonder why Travel + Leisure magazine named San Diego America’s second favorite city after Honolulu, Hawaii. Its pristine beaches, wonderful neighborhoods and bountiful agricultural supply must have helped secure that title.

Economy:
San Diego’s economy consists of military and defense industries as well as manufacturing, machinery, computers, metals, toys, sporting goods and trade. International trade accounts for 37 percent of its manufacturing dollars, according to a City Data Report. The location of the San Diego Bay is really great because it offers the City of San Diego five major ports. One of the main ports allows for entries by Honda, Acura, Volkswagon, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, and Hino Motors vehicles to come in.

History:
The first settlers of San Diego, California were the Shoshonean Native Americans.
The San Diego harbor was discovered by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo who sailed from Mexico in 1542. He named the area after San Miguel after the King of Spain. After Sebastian Vizcaíno arrived in 1602 in a ship named “San Diego,” he renamed the bay after San Diego de Alcalá after a Spanish Catholic saint. A couple years later, the first contact between the U.S. and their Mexican neighbors was established in the Mexican-American War. After the war was over, Mexico relinquished a huge part of their country to the U.S. As people began to flow between the border and people began moving to San Diego from different countries, San Diego became a very diverse city with adopted traditions from Native Americans, United States easterners, Mexicans, Asians and Spaniards.

Tourism:
San Diego is the place to go if you want to enjoy your vacation time, but not spend all your money there. First off, there are over 70 miles of beaches in the City of San Diego, giving you plenty of opportunities to snooze in the sun or enjoy the crisp clear ocean water. There are also fun and free things to so all year round, according to San Diego’s official website. There’s the La Jolla Cove where you can see the sun set of the ocean surface, the Seaport Village where there is free entertainment, shopping and bay-view eateries, the historic Gaslamp Quarter, the Mission Bay Park, and the Misson Beach Boardwalk amongst so much more. Step back in time with a visit to Juliam, the century-old minging town in the Cuyamaca Mountains, or drive an hour away to Mount Laguna for wicked hiking trails. Whatever you choose to do, you can enjoy yourself with pristine views and perfect weather. It’s so wonder so many people are moving to San Diego to enjoy one of the greatest cities in our nation. San Diego moving companies are really benefiting from these exciting moves.
